What Are The Reasons To Plan A Small Wedding?
While the pandemic has altered the way we organise weddings and social occasions, there are many more reasons to consider a small wedding. During the lockdowns, many marriages were postponed or cancelled, and even after the restrictions are lifted, you may discover that your priorities have shifted.
It's no surprise that small weddings have received a lot of attention in the last year or so. Small weddings are cool.
A small wedding is defined as having between 20 and 60 attendees, with anything under that being referred to as a micro wedding. You could even want to consider going completely minimalist — elopements are incredibly popular right now! They're a terrific option if you're on a budget but still want to tie the knot. (Yes, we are kidding!)
Planning a small wedding doesn't mean you have to give up on the details that are important to you. With a smaller guest list, you can still create a unique and unforgettable experience for you and your closest friends.
You don’t like a big crowd
A large, classic white wedding is not for everyone. A small wedding is certainly much more enticing to you if you don't like being in masses or being the centre of attention for a huge number of people. That way, you'll only get the focus of your closest friends and family, with whom you feel at ease.
You have a budget set in mind
Let's face it, money is an issue for a lot of us, and many of us would rather spend our money on items that will last a lifetime rather than on a wedding day. If you or your partner have been juggling your money during the lockdown, having a smaller wedding with fewer guests to cook for will give you a good portion of your budget back.
You have a small wedding venue
Small weddings lend themselves wonderfully to more intimate venues, and you may have your heart set on a dream wedding location that can only accommodate a few guests.
If you don't have a specific venue in mind, you might enjoy looking for small but unique places to hold your wedding ceremony and/or reception – a charming country pub or a mountain cabin, a beautifully dressed room in a period house or a quaint cottage, a tiny romantic chapel or a bijou back garden, a small riverboat or a barge. Once you start looking, you'll find a lot of options.
You want to consider a few things that matter to you
So, you're limiting the number of guests, but you can still go all out on the gown, perfect wedding shoes, flowers, food, and table settings — everything you want! The fact that you're having a small wedding doesn't mean you can't have the nicest and most beautiful wedding day possible.
Perhaps you'd like to spend a little more money on gifts for your few guests, or you'd like to hire your favourite band to play the music. You may be saving money on the wedding day because you have planned a lavish honeymoon in an exotic location.
You want your wedding day to be more manageable
A big wedding can also mean a lot of stress, which is something that some people cannot afford. Do you really want to be worried about your aunt Carol's new lover, whom you've never met, having a good time? It's just so much easier to impress fewer people - especially if those visitors are folks, you already know.
At a small wedding, you'll have less worry. Only invite your closest friends and family to make the party more relaxing. It's unlikely that your wedding day will be completely stress-free, but it's a start.
When it comes down to weddings, you can have any type you want — as long as it fits into your budget! Small weddings aren't to be disliked – they may be wonderfully special, private, and unforgettable.
