Get To Know The Most Comfortable Wedding Shoes

If you've read any of our other posts, you'll know that we're big fans of comfy wedding shoes. We love comfortable shoes in general, but comfort is especially crucial on your wedding day. But what exactly is a comfortable wedding shoe, and what should you look for when looking for one?

Here are our top five tips for choosing the best suited wedding shoes:

Pick natural materials

The materials used to make a comfortable wedding shoe are arguably the most significant consideration. Even though a shoe is stunning to look at, if it isn't made of the right materials, your feet will not like you much by the end of the big day.

Select a heel height that is comfortable for you

It may be surprising, but your heel height has nothing much to do with the comfort level. Not always a low heel is comfortable, and high heels do not necessarily mean uncomfortable. Comfort level majorly matters on the design of the shoe. If the heel and the shoe have the perfect pitch and a well-cut pattern, a well-designed high heel can be just as comfortable as a mid-height heel.

That being said, it's critical that you select a wedding shoe with a heel height that you're comfortable with. So, if you rarely wear high heels, a five-inch skyscraper on your wedding day might not be the best choice! If you want a bit of height but aren't used to heels, a platform wedding sandal could be a more comfortable heel option.

Keep in mind that straps = support

There's a reason why most of our wedding shoes include straps. They provide extra support when you're wearing them. While we love a decent court shoe, an ankle strap or T-bar provides extra security throughout the day and the assurance that they won't slip on the heel or feel loose at any point.

Keep an eye out for a small bit of elastic that is holding the buckle in place. With an elasticated buckle, the strap flexes slightly when you move, preventing it from biting into your foot. A minor detail that makes a significant difference.

It is what is on the inside that counts

When looking for comfortable wedding shoes, consider both the inside and exterior of the shoe. What material is the lining comprised of? If you choose a leather shoe with a cheap synthetic lining, the natural benefits of the upper will be negated. However, there are some extremely good synthetic linings on the market, and you can usually tell the difference by touching them - if they feel plastic and slippery, they aren't breathable!

Feel inside the shoe for where the ball of your foot goes. Contrary to common belief, this area does not require a lot of cushioning, but you should make sure there's a soft layer underfoot that isn't too slippery (again, leather wins every time!). For the best inner lining, you can always trust Avalia Shoes.

Good design = comfy shoes

Finally, good design is the most important component in making a wedding shoe comfortable. You can have the nicest materials in the world, but if the shoe is poorly designed and built, it will not be comfortable. Brands that prioritise design will spend in product development at every stage (pun intended), such as producing well-fitting lasts with ample width allowance.
