Choosing The Right Wedding Footwear
Your wedding should be the best day of your life. However, wearing the wrong shoes can cause far more harm than you realise.
Finding a shoe that matches the gown is only the beginning; keep these tips in mind when selecting your perfect wedding shoes to ensure that Cinderella-like 'fit' moment.
Tips to follow
EVERYTHING revolves around comfort!
Remember that you will be wearing the shoes from early in the morning until late at night. Shoes that don't fit properly will cause you a lot of pain, while loose shoes will cause your foot to flounder. Proper wedding shoes usually have additional padding to make them more comfortable; therefore, avoid purchasing shoes that lack this padding.
Leather or fabric?
Satin and silk are the two most popular fabrics for wedding shoes. Personal preference and the style of your wedding gown, on the other hand, will influence the shoes you choose. Slipping on a satin shoe to match that dream gown feels incredibly luxurious.
Take your time to ensure a proper fit
Both your shoes and your dress should be comfortable. Order your wedding gown and shoes early enough to allow for any necessary adjustments, especially if your gown is custom made. Having your shoes at each fitting will ensure that your dress is the perfect length!
Heels or flats?
Keep doing what you're used to and comfortable with! If you are not used to wearing high heels, avoid wearing them on your wedding day; this is not the time to experiment. Wedges or lower-heeled heels are also excellent choices for all-day comfort. If you can't stand the thought of not wearing heels, why not wear heels to the ceremony and either flats or barefoot sandals to the reception?
